Presenting the Fall 2021 Power Raking for Super Smash Bros Qatar

It has finally come time to conclude the Fall 2021 Season of the SSBQ Circuit, and to announce the Power Ranking this season. This season has been nothing short of excellent, dynamic, and incredible. We have seen champions toppled, underdogs rise, and veterans return to the community. The post-Wi-Fi era of SSBQ has brought with it a brand new era in the story line and folklore of the local scene. While one king stood atop the scene before, $BK & Xaiop have both challenged Crono and have successfully won games off of him. We have seen our champions rise up to the occasion of playing abroad, and we have seen them valiantly defend our home turf as well. A total of 120 players have participated in this season of the SSBQ circuit, with only 19 players qualifying for the ranking itself. It brings us great honor to present the Top 15 players of this SSBQ Circuit.

15. Jadz

Jadz had a strong debut at the beginning of the season, with a couple Top 8 performances under his belt. Jadz is by far one of the most notable of the guardians of SSBQ. You are sure to face Jadz if you have made it far into the bracket, and time and time again the best had to face him off to earn their right in Top 8.Jadz was one of the stars of the post-Wi-Fi era of Qatari Smash. We would like to thank Jadz for not only being an excellent competitor, but a helping hand to the TOs. We wish him the very best in Lebanon, and the spirit of the family that is SSBQ will always be with you.

14. CrimsonMooN

This Lucina and Isabelle co-main consistently ranked within the Top 15 players of the season. Frequent attendances and consistent Top 16 placements meant that this player rightfully deserved their spot at Number 14. This player is no slouch either, with consistent wins against SSBQ regulars like Emperor and Qwavow, we would not be surprised to see this player break into the Top 8 sooner or later.

13. IBRA

Known for his bombastic and energetic commentary, IBRA is no slouch of a competitor either. This hearty ZSS main has had wins against regulars such as Emperor. IBRA has been a regular on previous iterations of the SSBQ Power Ranking, even in earlier games. IBRA has proven his skill in this season and that he is not just a legacy player from an earlier era. We would not be surprised to see IBRA go further as he continues to grind and invest more time into Smash Ultimate.

12. Quasar

A newcomer to the scene, Quasar has shown an excellent willingness to learn and an ability to apply improvements to his overall gameplay. In spite of being new to competitive Smash, this star has risen up to the challenge and competed in the Desert Knights 7 Last Chance Qualifier in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, netting solid wins over the likes of Medina’s King Z.M. Locally, Quasar has netted wins over PR’d players such as CrimsonMooN and Guts, and SSBQ regulars Emperor, as well as old school legends Sleepingwalker and Ruby. Of the breakout stars in the post-Wi-Fi era of Qatari Smash, Quasar has shown brilliant amounts of potential. Along with his willingness to learn, do not be surprised to see this Falco amongst the top in the scene.

11. Guts (Omar Al-Baker)

This King Dedede turned Sephiroth has seen success from his switch to a better character. While the trifecta of Qatari Dededes have become a duo, Guts has gained much in his success as a competitor in the local circuit. With a brilliant start to the season, netting himself a Top 3 placement in the second tournament and a couple Top 8 finishes, Guts has proven his ability to battle against the best as the meta game continues to evolve. With wins over the likes of Kenji, Magician, CrimsonMooN, and more, this player has rightfully earned his spot on the rankings of this season’s circuit.

10. Pizza

A regular of the SSBQ Power Ranking, this patient Pikachu player continued to show placements that we are used to seeing from him. Pizza is a regular at the local tournament’s Top 8. Wins against DmaR, [Faisal], Sage, Ruby, and more, Pizza is definitely a name to consider when talking about players who are on the cusp of achieving greatness. We look forward to seeing him eventually be able to elevate his gameplay into the next level, and content with he very best of the region and SSBQ.

9. Sage

Of the 5 tournaments Sage has attended, he has placed within the Top 8 in 4 of them, and within the Top 16 once. Sage has proven has mastery over Peach at the local circuit, we hope to see the fruits of his training at our locals and major tournaments. Sage has proven himself to be a heavy hitter in the local circuit, and we hope to see him go toe-to-toe amongst the best in the GCC! Sage has had wins over DmaR, Pizza, Dawn, and has had a 100% win rate against iHasoon. We hope to see this rising star at more SSBQ tourneys and cement himself as an upper echelon player, and strive for continued improvement.

8. DmaR

Coming out of retirement for the post-Wi-Fi era of Smash, DmaR has once again earned his placement in the Power Ranking. His Pokémon Trainer has netted him countless Top 8s early in the season. DmaR has netted wins over countless members of the PR, even after his switch to Sora. A deep understanding of Smash’s neutral, meta game, and fighting game fundamentals makes this player stand out amongst our circuit. DmaR is a seasoned veteran of the game, his skill shows it, and he has the ability to top it. It saddens us to hear DmaR taking a step back from competing, as he has yet to reach his peak. We believe that DmaR could go even further beyond his current placement (we’re cheering for you!).

7. AMM

The story of AMM is one of persistence, practive, and patience. AMM has finally broken into the Top 8 of SSBQ. For the longest time, AMM has not been able to break into Top 8, across 2 different games. Years of honing his skills, and competing at tournaments, AMM has finally cemented himself as a top player in the Qatari circuit. Local players cannot stop raining praise on this rising star. We are so excited to see what AMM has in store for us, and we are sure that he will rise to the occasion on the path to constant improvement. We are incredibly proud of you AMM, keep it up, and we hope to see you achieve greater things!

6. iHasoon

While AMM’s level up is the talk of the town, iHasoon’s stark level up into this season of the SSBQ Circuit is one to be celebrated as well! By far one of the most underrated players in the local circuit, iHasoon has an iron grip over SSBQ’s Top 8, regularly placing within it in the tournaments he enters. iHasoon is one of the stars of SSBQ, keep an eye out for this Palutena, we are sure that he will break into SSBQ’s very top players soon. He has a huge hurdle to over come, but he is definitely a player to watch very closely.

5. Magician

Constant crits, lucky hocus pocuses, and constant Thwack kills, it makes me think twice about the truth behind this Hero mains training regiment (if you know you know!). Jokes aside, Magician has been no slouch in this season of the SSBQ Power Ranking. A newcomer to the Qatari Smash scene, it is hard to imagine a Top 8 without Magician in it. Breakout wins near the end of the season have proven his skills as a player. Beware of this shark in the Qatari Smash scene! Magician is no RNG Andy, he is a highly skilled player in his own right, (he has even taken a set off of Xaiop!).

4. Dawn

What is there to say about Dawn that hasn’t been said? While he may come off as quiet and meek, his Ness is an absolute monster to face. His constant hunger for tournaments locally and abroad, willingness to learn, and drive to win game after game, we wholeheartedly believe that not only does this player have the ability to become the best in Qatar, but possibly become a name to be feared across the GCC. Amazing performance this season Dawn, keep up the hard work! We finally wanna see you beat the best of the best at a major tournament and earn your gold medal!

3. Xaiop

So much folklore and legends surround this Robin player. Undisputedly the best Robin player in the GCC, Xaiop is the sole reason why Qatari players whole heartedly believe that this character is absolutely broken. All of us believe that if the world sees this Robin, it would be terrified of what this character can do and achieve. A nail biter of a set against Tooky and Visa setbacks have prevented this player from showing his brilliance, however, we hope to turn this around and show the brilliance of Xaiop, and how Doha is a breeding ground for absolute monsters of aggressive players.

2. $BK

Many things can be said about SBK, highly skilled, passionate, monsterous, and a clown, this player wholeheartedly believes that he is the best in the GCC. $BK has shown moments of absolute brilliance, but he often sets himself up to be his own enemy. We have noticed a huge change in SBK’s mentality and view point towards the game and the community. SBK is a player to watch out for, and one that is both incredibly fun and infuriating to watch. This is only the beginning of SBK’s story, watch out for this player in the future.

1. Crono

The undisputed king of the Qatari Smash Scene, Crono is the best player in Qatar, and it is hard to argue otherwise. While in earlier seasons he looked untouchable and near unbeatable, his performance at Number 1 this season is all the more impressive, considering how far the other players in the scene have leveled up. Crono is a player that only just started getting the spotlight within the GCC, only experiencing combatting out of region players both in his hometown and the best of the best abroad. We are sure that Crono definitely wants his run back against the region’s best, as he wants to prove his case of where he ranks amongst the best in the wider MENA region.

This concludes the Fall 2021 Season of the Super Smash Bros. Qatar circuit. Thank you for everyone who has supported us in this season. Thank you to the sponsors of this season, WASD Electronics and Store 974, for making this circuit happen. We will see you all very soon with even better events, until next time!
